And, to those curious to venture beyond the romantic and seductive charm of Fazana, the surrounding area offers a large variety of activities. Situated at walking distance from the old town, the beaches covered with fragrant pinettas extend both north and south of Fazana. The rocky configuration of the sea-bed and the mild current between the mainland and the islands of neighbouring Brioni, make the water crystal-clear.

The under-water fauna is a paradise by itself, making this an ideal spot for swimming and snorkeling. The islands of Brioni, just 20 minutes by ferry, offer splendid secluded beaches, golf, polo, tennis and biking. This lush and beautiful Natural Park is a habitat of many animals, and features a zoo where guests can feed the animals.

Pula, the principal town of Istria and the home of one of the world’s best preserved Roman amphitheatres, is situated just a 10 minute drive along the coast from Fazana. During the summer season the amphitheatre provides a stunning setting for cultural events including films and concerts, bringing famous artists such as Luciano Pavarotti and Julio Iglesias. Within an hour’s journey either by car or by boat one can reach any part of Istria, whether along the coast or inland. Especially picturesque are the characteristic medieval castles and fortified towns built on hilltops, which punctuate the lush, Tuscan-like landscape. This area is the home of the Guinness-Book-of-Records-sized Tartuffe (truffle) and some of the best wines from the vineyards of the Southern Alps. With such a wealth of natural beauty coupled with authentic Mediterranean architecture and rich in local tradition, this is a magical place with no equal.
